We have the honour to acknowledge your letter of the 25th instant, informing us of the decision of the Chief Justice, the Police Magistrate, with regard to Lighting rates chargeable on two houses in Spring Gardens in the occupation of the Crown.

We let these houses on the understanding that such rates, as is customary, would be borne by the tenants.

With the deduction now ordered, the rental scarcely repays the outlay.
